9th Dr M Vijayakumar Medal Exam
- Dr M. Vijayakumar Memorial Medal Examination in Pediatric Nephrology is held annually preceding the Annual NEPHKIDS CME. The Medal has been instituted to commemorate the memory of Dr M. Vijayakumar, a pioneer and an excellent teacher in Pediatric Nephrology.
- Postgraduate students of The National Board of Examinations in Pediatric Medicine, DCH and MD Pediatrics (1st, 2nd and 3rd year) are alone invited to participate.
- Date & venue
- Sep 26th 2026 Saturday Reporting time 7.30 AM Registration: Taj Club House, Mount Road, Chennai
- Examination time: 8.00AM to 9.00 AM.
- Modality of examination:
- Multiple choice questions with single best response for each totaling to 75 MCQs inclusive of 10 star questions.
- Duration of examination – One hour
- No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall once the exam commences
- No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall, 05 minutes after commencement of the examination.
- No extension of time is permitted for late comers.
- Eligibility for Medal exam:
- First prize: Each correct response will carry 1 mark with no negative marking. Candidate who has the highest number of right answers is eligible for the first prize
- Second prize: Candidate who has the second highest number of right answers.
- Third prize: Candidate who has the third highest number of right answers.
- In case of a tie, star questions will be the deciding factor. In case of conflicts, the decision of the organizing committee is final.
- Winners will be announced during the inauguration of NEPHKIDS on 27thSeptember

- 3rd Prize – 10,000 INR

- Star questions will be taken from standard journals – Pediatric Nephrology related topics, from Indian Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology.
- Guidelines related to Pediatric Nephrology from India and International pediatric nephrology from journals (ISPN/IAP, KDIGO, Hypertension- AAP etc)
- Pediatric Textbooks – Nelson and IAP text book of pediatrics covering Pediatric Nephrology topics, Nammalwar’s Principles and Practice of Pediatric Nephrology 3rdedition, Arvind Bagga – Pediatric nephrology.
