Dr.B.R.Nammalwar Oration
Dr.B.R.Nammalwar is the first qualified Pediatric Nephrologist from South India. He has had the privilege of organizing a Nephrology and Dialysis centre in a Government District Hospital at Salem, probably the first of its kind in India. He organized the Department of Pediatric Nephrology at Institute of Child Health, Chennai in 1985. Post retirement from Institute of Child Health he initiated the Nephrology and Dialysis Department at Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital at Chennai. He is currently the Director of Medical Education and the guiding force for the department of Pediatric Nephrology at Mehta Multispeciality Hospital, Chennai. He has contributed to multiple research papers in both International and National peer- reviewed journals and text books. He was conferred the Life Time Achievement Award by The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. He is a popular Pediatric Nephrologist in India, teacher of teachers and a very humble human being. To honour such a special person we have initiated Dr.B.R.Nammalwar Oration in the year 2007 and we are proud to continue this.
